DR. SATPARKASH (M.D.)
Dr. Satparkash completed his M.D. ‘Physician’ in 1999. He has been practicing in Addiction Disorders & Rehabilitation Program ever since. He has been conducting Awareness Programs for Prevention & Early Detection of Psychosomatic & Alcohol / Drug Problems at public functions and through print/electronic media. Helping patients become aware of their behavioral problems and commit themselves to professional help is always a challenge but a necessary foundation to successful recovery. Dr. Satprakash’s aim is to encourage and motivate people to choose a healthy life for themselves. This typically involves sustained psychosocial education to the patient and his / her family. Family is the biggest and the most important support system. Family members struggle with their own emotional pain and social fears of bringing their loved ones into a psychiatric unit for help.
It is important that they feel reassured and are mentally prepared to extend their support and trust, which plays a crucial role in the patient’s recovery process. Many sessions are involved in explaining and making families understand the need for and importance of treatment. As a professional in the field, psychosocial education about the illness and its short and long-term consequences becomes a critical part of Dr. Satprakash’s work. Once the patient is under his care, he takes it upon himself as a personal responsibility to look into their basic needs and requirements that would ultimately help them in attaining a healthy, fully functional life.
