Short Biography of Husnay Ara Begum
Husnay Ara Begum completed her BSc in Psychology from National University (1st class 1st) in 1996, MSc (2nd class 2nd) and MPhil in Clinical Psychology from Department of Clinical Psychology, Dhaka University in 1998 and 2005 respectively. She worked as a senior clinical psychologist in CREA for two years, and as a psychologist in Shamsunnahar Hall, DU for 14 years. Currently she is working at Nasirullah Psychotherapy Unit (NPU), Department of Clinical Psychology, University of Dhaka. Her area of interests is adult and child psychological problems, family and couple issues, parenting, anger, stress and burnout management, and psychological tests (like IQ tests, personality tests etc). She is practicing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for more than 23 years, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for 9 years which include emotion regulation skills, distress tolerance skills, interpersonal effective skills and core mindfulness skills. She is a trained systemic family and couple therapist and practicing systemic family therapy from 2018. She is a mindfulness practitioner as well. Husnay Ara Begum is a trainer who facilitated many trainings and developed module on counselling skills, anger, stress and burnout management, social skills training for Save the Children, Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Service (RDRS), and Acid Survivor Foundation (ASF). She is a panel trainer of SoS Shishu Polli Dhaka and National Trauma Counselling Centre of Women and Children Affairs, Govt. of Bangladesh. She is a master trainer of MhGAP program, running by DG health, supported by WHO. Husnay Ara Begum contributes the Dept. of Clinical Psychology, DU as a clinical supervisor and she is an EC member of Bangladesh Clinical Psychology Society (BCPS).
